Groby Pool: 1 Hawfinch north-west of the pool at SK516088.

Friday 29th

Rutland Water: 2 redhead Smew, Lagoon 2 & drake from Crake hide (South Arm 3); Red-necked Grebe still off Old Hall, South Arm 3.

Woodhouse Eaves: Hawfinch in Yews on Brand Hill at 13:30.

Burbage Common Extension: 1 Hawfinch still.

Thursday 28th

Rutland Water: drake American Wigeon still, Lagoon 2; Red-necked Grebe off Old Hall; Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; 2+ Great Northern Divers off the end of Hambleton Peninsula; Marsh Harrier, Lagoon 3.

Shawell A5 Lagoons: adult Glaucous Gull.

Burbage Common: 2+ Hawfinches at SP452949.

Rutland Water: 4 Great Northern Divers reported in Barnhill Creek, also Common Sandpiper still around the end of the peninsula; drake American Wigeon still, Lagoon 2 + 2 redhead Smew; Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; Red-necked Grebe, South Arm 3; Marsh Harrier, Lagoon 3.

Stoughton Airfield: male Stonechat.

Monday 25th

Rutland Water: Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; 2 Great Northern Divers, Barnhill Creek; 1st-winter drake Smew, Lagoon 4; 22 Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3.

Eyebrook Res: 6 Smew (3 drakes), pair of Scaup still, male Stonechat & 28 Dunlin.

Saddington Res: Great White Egret.

Sunday 24th

Rutland Water: Black-necked Grebe still, North Arm; 2 Great Northern Divers, Barnhill Creek + 1 Whitwell.

Eyebrook Res: 6 Smew (3 drakes) north of the island, also female Scaup.

Burbage Common Extension: 1 Hawfinch still in hay bale field.

Saturday 23rd

Lount: Common Redpoll with a 7 Lesser Redpolls at SK373190 this afternoon.

Rutland Water: drake American Wigeon back on Lagoon 2; Red-necked Grebe, Old Hall; Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; 2 Great Northern Divers, Barnhill Creek + 1, Whitwell.

Albert Village Tip: juv Glaucous Gull.

Eyebrook Res: drake Smew north of the island.

Wigston Sewage Works: Siberian Chiffchaff near the solar farm.

Friday 22nd

Rutland Water: Black-necked Grebe still, North Arm; 3 Great Northern Divers, Whitwell; 4 Smew, Lagoon 3.

Exton Park: 1 Hawfinch still at the cemetery this morning.

Grimston: 3 Bramblings flew over mid afternoon.

Thursday 21st

Eyebrook Res: juv Glaucous Gull in the roost again, south of the island at 15:50, also 2nd-winter Med Gull, 5 Smew (3 drakes), 15 Dunlin & 2 Stonechats.

Rutland Water: Black-necked Grebe still in Dickinson's Bay, North Arm.

Wednesday 20th

Rutland Water: adult Bewick's Swan, North Arm.

Tuesday 19th

Eyebrook Res: juv Glaucous Gull in the roost again, south of the island, also pair of Smew still north of the island.

Albert Village Lake: juv Glaucous Gull still.

Rutland Water: 4 Whooper Swans, North Arm, also Black-necked Grebe still.

Saddington Res: Great White Egret.

Hawfinches: 2 north-west of Groby Pool, 1 Cossington Meadows (south end of Swan Meadow at 13:45, then flew towards reserve entrance) & 1 still, Burbage Common Extension.

Monday 18th

Eyebrook Res: Jack Snipe from the inflow bunker + juv Glaucous Gull south of the island again this afternoon.

Rutland Water: Black-necked Grebe, North Arm; Great Northern Diver, Rock Pipit & Common Sandpiper still, end of Hambleton Peninsula; Great Northern Diver, Whitwell; Brambling by Egleton Visitor centre; 20 Red-crested Pochard, Lapwing hide.

Albert Village Lake/Tip: juv Glaucous Gull.

Groby Pool: 3 Hawfinches north of the pool at SK516088.

Sunday 17th

Shawell A5 Lagoons: juv Iceland Gull again.

Saturday 16th

Eyebrook Res: juv Glaucous Gull in the roost again, from the bunker south of the island from 14:25 onwards. Also pair of Smew and 2 Scaup (female & 1st-winter male) in the bay north of the island; Ruff at the inflow.

Shawell A5 Lagoons: juv Iceland Gull still.

Rutland Water: 2 Great Northern Divers still, also Rock Pipit & Common Sandpiper at the end of Hambleton Peninsula.

Friday 15th

Ibstock: 1 Hawfinch still, St Denys churchyard.

Eyebrook Res: juv Glaucous Gull south of the island this evening; 3 Smew (adult male, 1st-winter male & female) off Stoke Dry; female Scaup north of the island.

Rutland Water: 2 Great Northern Divers & Rock Pipit off Hambleton Peninsula; 2 redhead Smew, Lagoon 2; Bittern, Lagoon 3.

Ibstock: 1 Hawfinch still, St Denys churchyard.

Wednesday 13th

Eyebrook Res: 3 Smew (adult male, 1st-winter male & female) in bay north of the island.

Rutland Water: juv Great Northern Diver off the north side of Hambleton Peninsula.

Also, please note that work on replacing Lapwing hide will start in the next few days, so there will be disruption in this area for a few weeks.

Ibstock: 1+ Hawfinch still Overton Road/St Denys churchyard.

Tuesday 12th

Shawell A5 Lagoons: juv Iceland Gull (Kumlien's not ruled out) this morning.

Rutland Water: drake American Wigeon, North Arm; Rock Pipit & Common Sandpiper at the end of Hambleton Peninsula; Great Northern Diver, Whitwell.

Monday 11th

Hawfinches: 4+ north of Groby Pool near the old landfill; 2 still in St Denys churchyard, Ibstock, and one in Albert Promenade, Loughborough, late morning.

Melton CP: adult Med Gull.

Rutland Water: 3 juv Great Northern Divers photographed together in Barnhill Creek at the end of Hambleton Peninsula at 12:45; Red-necked Grebe still, Old Hall; female Common Scoter & Scaup, North Arm; drake Smew & American Wigeon, Lagoon 2; 20+ Red-crested Pochards, Lagoon 3.

Hicks Lodge: 1 Jack Snipe.

Eyebrook Res: drake Ferruginous Duck again with Pochards c150m south of Stoke Dry car park; male & female Smew north of the island; 25 Dunlin & 1 Ruff.

Exton Park: Hawfinch flew south from trees west of the cemetery mid-afternoon.

Thursday 7th

Rutland Water: Great Northern Diver still, Barnhill Creek; Red-necked Grebe off Old Hall, South Arm 3; female Common Scoter & 2 Scaup, North Arm.

Wednesday 6th

Swithland Res: 2 Great White Egrets on the north side.

Tuesday 5th

Rutland Water: drake American Wigeon, South Arm 3/Lagoon 2; Red-necked Grebe, Old Hall + 2 female Scaup, South Arm 3, Great Northern Diver, Barnhill Creek; Marsh Harrier, Lagoon 1; female Common Scoter still, North Arm + 4 Smew around the reserve.

Eyebrook Res: 3 Smew (adult male, 1st-winter male & female) near the Fishing Lodge, but no sign again of the Ferruginous Duck in a thorough search this morning (also no sign yesterday).

Swithland Res: Great White Egret still on the north side.

Hicks Lodge: 3 Pink-footed Geese.

Monday 4th

Rutland Water: Spotted Redshank, Goldeneye hide; drake American Wigeon & redhead Smew still, Lagoon 2.

Swithland Res: Great White Egret still on the north side.

Heather: Hawfinch in the churchyard briefly late morning.

Burbage Common Extension: 1 Hawfinch still.

Sunday 3rd

Eyebrook Res: drake Ferruginous Duck still off the plantation shore north of the island this morning, but no sign this afternoon (Pochards well spread out over the reservoir). Also 2 redhead Smew, 1st-winter male & female Scaup.

Rutland Water: drake American Wigeon still, Lagoon 2; 2 Great Northern Divers: one off the end of Hambleton Peninsula and one between the dam and Whitwell.

Swithland Res: Great White Egret on the north side.

Exton Park: 1 Hawfinch still at the cemetery.

Saturday 2nd

Eyebrook Res: drake & 2 redhead Smew; drake Ferruginous Duck still off the plantation north of the island; 1st-winter drake Scaup reported still; c35 Dunlin & 1 Stonechat.

Rutland Water: Red-necked Grebe off Old Hall still; drake American Wigeon, Lagoon 2.
