Watermead CP South: Spoonbill flew towards Birstall Meadows at 09:15, but no further sign.

No sign of Red-necked Phalarope at Rutland Water today.

Rutland Water: female Red-necked Phalarope still on Lagoon 3.

Thursday 27th

Rutland Water: female Red-necked Phalarope, Lagoon 3 this evening; 2 Temminck's Stints, Black Tern, 2 Little Gulls & 1+ Sanderling, Lagoon 4.

No sign of Blue-winged Teal at Groby Pool this morning.

Wednesday 26th

Groby Pool: female Blue-winged Teal in channel on the north side. Park only in the car park (SK525079) and walk back along the road around the east side of the pool to the start of the footpath. Follow the footpath for about 20 yards to view the channel, where the bird is associating with a drake Shoveler. Also female Marsh Harrier in the reedbed early afternoon.

Rutland Water: Temminck's Stint still on Lagoon 4 from Sandpiper hide + 2 Little Gulls, 10 + Sanderlings, Black Tern, Yellow-legged Gull + report of Little Stint; Wood Sandpiper, Lagoon 3; Short-eared Owl, Lagoon 1. No sign of White-winged Black Terns today.

Birstall Meadows: drake Garganey & drake Red-crested Pochard - view from the footpath near the Co-op social club.

Wanlip Sewage Works: Turtle Dove flew towards Watermead at 11:25.

Tuesday 25th

Rutland Water: Temminck's Stint, Lagoon 4 from Plover hide + 1st-summer Caspian Gull; 2 White-winged Black Terns still commuting between Lagoon 4/3 and South Arm III.

Monday 24th

Rutland Water: 2 White-winged Black Terns & 4 Black Terns still commuting between Lagoon 4, Lagoon 3 and South Arm III all day. Also on Lagoon 4 this morning: 2 Avocets, Whimbrel, Knot, Turnstone & 10 Sanderlings.

Swithland Wood: Firecrest singing c50m south of the north car park this morning.

Deans Lane, Woodhouse: Firecrest singing 200 yards down the main track on the right this evening. How many more are there in Charnwood (or elsewhere)?!

Eyebrook Res: no news on Temminck's Stint today - presumed gone.

Sunday 23rd

Rutland Water: 2 White-winged Black Terns commuting between Lagoon 4 and South Arm III this afternoon, also up to 10 Black Terns; 1st-summer Little Gull, 2 Avocets & 3 Sanderlings on Lagoon 4; Black Tern & Greenshank, North Arm.

Eyebrook Res: Temminck's Stint at the inflow on the Leics side, best seen from the new viewing area.

Outwoods: Firecrest singing this evening - from the main car park follow the path which runs parallel to the road for c20 yards; the bird was singing in conifers.

Saturday 22nd

Kelham Bridge: bird reported as a Purple Heron earlier is an aberrant/soiled/deformed/hybrid/manky Grey Heron. Photo and discussion here:

Beacon Hill: Wood Warbler still singing by the lower pond. From he bottom car park take the blue track for 500 yards to the pond.

Beacon Hill: Wood Warbler still singing by the lower pond.

Albert Village Lake: adult Med Gull, + Yellow-legged Gull on the tip.

Tuesday 18th

Rutland Water: Buff-breasted Sandpiper on Lagoon 4 till 19:30 when it flew off north. Also 4 Sanderlings & 1 Greenshank (+ Curlew Sandpiper early morning only).

Rutland Water: BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER (1st County record), Lagoon 4 this evening from Sandpiper hide.

Beacon Hill: Wood Warbler still singing by the lower pond.

Normanton-le-Heath/Heather: probable Black Stork in flight at 14:15, heading ENE and gaining height (John Hague).

Cropston Res: 2 Arctic Terns.

Leicester: pair of Spotted Flycatchers back in New Walk, between King Street and Welford Place.
