Rutland Water: Spotted Redshank & Black Tern, South Arm 2; 2 Ruff & 1 Dunlin on South Arm 3 island; 5 Black Terns, North Arm; Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Ruff & 6 Ringed Plovers, Manton Bay.

Eyebrook Res: Ruff, 6 Dunlin & 8 Ringed Plovers.

Tuesday 27th

Saturday 24th

Stanford Res: Pectoral Sandpiper still at the inflow end this evening. NB access to the reservoir is by permit, only available in advance from the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough (website).

Rutland Water: Spoonbill dropped into Lagoon 4 this evening - also seen yesterday, and presumably roosted at the Fishponds.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 1 Common Sandpiper + Whinchat & Wheatear in paddocks between farm & lake.

Friday 23rd

Eyebrook Res: Curlew Sandpiper, 8 Dunlin & 16 Ringed Plovers.

Rutland Water: Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Ruff & 6 Ringed Plovers, Manton Bay; Black-tailed Godwit, Lapwing hide; Ruff, Lagoon 4.

Thursday 22nd

Cossington Meadows: 4 Ruff, Rectory Marsh, 2 Ruff & Common Sandpiper, Upper Marsh.

Victoria Park, Leicester: Spotted Flycatcher by the pond this morning.

Sunday 18th

Eyebrook Res: Knot at the island; 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Greenshanks, 12 Ruff, 6 Dunlin & 17 Ringed Plovers at the inflow, also 1 Garganey.

Cossington Meadows: 7 Ruff, Rectory Marsh, also 2 Green Sandpipers & 1 Common Sandpiper around the reserve.

Sibbertoft: 1 Wheatear at the gliding school this morning (presumably not actually learning to glide!).

Bradgate Park: 1 Wheatear 200 yards south of Old John.

Saturday 17th

Stanford Res: Grey Plover, Black Tern & 6 Ruff.

Eyebrook Res: 3 Curlew Sandpipers late afternoon, also Greenshank & 3 Dunlin.

Friday 16th

Watermead CP South: adult Little Gull this afternoon, also Tree Pipit over this morning.

Eyebrook Res: Greenshank, Dunlin, 11 Ruff & 8 Ringed Plovers.

Enderby: Wheatear in field north of Leicester Lane/west of M1.

Thursday 15th

Cossington Meadows: Bean Goose/hybrid, Hobley Lake/Upper Marsh. In the field this bird apparently shows a prominent orange eyering (not visible on the photos), and the bill pattern is also odd (no dark markings at base), possibly suggesting some Greylag influence. Whatever it is, it's unlikely to be wild! Also 2 Common Sandpipers & 2 Green Sandpipers.

Rutland Water: Great Skua in the North Arm till 12:20 when it flew off west; adult & juv Arctic Terns, Lagoon 3 + 4.

Watermead CP South: adult & 2 1st-winter Little Gulls briefly at 09:40 before flying off south-west, also adult Arctic Tern still.

Swithland Res: 2 Greenshanks, Ruff & Common Sandpiper.

Good numbers of Meadow Pipits, Yellow Wagtails and hirundines moving south today, also several migrating Common Buzzards reported.

Groby Pool: female Redstart still 800m NNW of the pool.

Foston: 2 Whinchats & 8 Wheatears in fields north of Foston Hall Farm.

Charnwood Lodge: 1 Whinchat.

Longmoor Lake: 7 Wheatears & 5 Ringed Plovers.

Rutland Water: juv Little Gull & 4 Red-crested Pochards, North Arm; 2 Black Terns, Manton Bay.

Groby Pool: female Redstart 800m NNW of the pool at SK517092, alwo 2 Spotted Flycatchers.

Swithland Res: Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Greenshanks & 3 Common Sandpipers.

Watermead CP South: juv Arctic Tern still off the car park.

Longmoor Lake (between Ravenstone & Normanton): adult Arctic Tern, 6 Wheatears & 5 Ringed Plovers.

Friday 9th

Eyebrook Res: Manx Shearwater was found dead this morning. It was unfortunately not possible to find a boat yesterday evening before it got dark.

Rutland Water: Spoonbill flew in and landed on Lagoon 1 early afternoon, also Sandwich Tern flew from South Arm 3 to Lagoon 3 at 14:00.

Langton Caudle: 1 Whinchat.

Watermead CP South: juv Arctic Tern still off the car park.

Thursday 8th

Eyebrook Res: Manx Shearwater in bay north of the island this evening, in weed about 20 feet from the shore. Contrary to earlier reports, it appears that the bird is reasonably healthy, but seems to have its feet trapped, either in weed or fishing line. Also Turnstone still on the island, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Greenshanks, 7 Ruff, 2 Dunlin & 3 Ringed Plovers.

Rutland Water: 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 7 Ruff & 1 Green Sandpiper, Lagoon 1; 2 Curlew Sandpipers, Goldeneye hide; 2 Arctic Terns, Lagoon 2; Arctic Tern & 5 Greenshanks, Lagoon 4. Also around the reserve Knot, Wood Sandpiper, Black Tern & Little Gull.

Watermead CP South: 2 Arctic Terns off the car park.

Osprey flew low south over the M69 between Thurlaston and Enderby at 14:50.

Wednesday 7th

Rutland Water: Black Tern between Whitwell & the dam; Turnstone at the southern end of the dam; Knot, North Arm; 2 Whinchat, Lagoon 1 (from Visitor Centre). Also 7 Curlew Sandpipers (no details of where) and of interest, the largest numbers of Yellow Wagtails for many years - 250+ on the reserve plus many other smaller flocks around the reservoir.

Eyebrook Res: 7 Knot, 2 Greenshanks, 1 Dunlin & 3 Ringed Plovers at the inflow; juv Arctic Tern, Turnstone & Ruff at the island.

Tuesday 6th

Stanford Res: 2 Wood Sandpiper still, plus Green Sandpiper.

Brascote Pits: male Redstart + Common Sandpiper.

Croft Hill: 5 Wheatears.

Monday 5th

Frolesworth Manor Lake: 2 Whinchats still in the horse paddocks east of the lake.

Rutland Water: juvenile Red-necked Phalarope from Plover hide (Lagoon 4) this afternoon, also Curlew Sandpiper. 4 Curlew Sandpipers, 10 Dunlin & 12+ Ringed Plovers, Shallow Water hide (Lyndon); 60+ Ruff, 10+ Greenshanks & 10+ Green Sandpipers around the reserve.

Frolesworth Manor Lake: still 2 Whinchats, in the horse paddock between the farm and the lake.

Eyebrook Res: Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Ruff & 4 Greenshanks.

Blackbrook Res: Black Tern & adult Med Gull.

Swithland Res: Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Ruff, 3 Dunlin, 9 Ringed Plovers, 4 Greenshanks & 1 Common Sandpiper, also 1 Garganey on the south side.

Cossington Meadows: 4 Green Sandpipers & 2 Common Sandpipers, Upper Marsh.

Brascote Pits: Common Sandpiper + report of male Redstart.

Eyebrook Res: juv Marsh Harrier, 3 Curlew Sandpipers, 1+ Wood Sandpiper, 2 Spotted Redshanks, 4 Greenshanks, 6 Ruff, 2 Dunlin, 9 Ringed Plovers & 1 Common Sandpiper. Reported Red-necked Phalaropes on Tuesday were apparently Ruffs.....
