presumably roosted at the Fishponds.

Thursday 15th
Cossington Meadows: Bean
Goose/hybrid, Hobley Lake/Upper Marsh. In the field
this bird apparently shows a prominent orange eyering (not visible
on the photos), and the bill pattern is also odd (no dark markings
at base), possibly suggesting some Greylag influence. Whatever
it is, it's unlikely to be wild! Also 2 Common Sandpipers
& 2 Green Sandpipers.
Rutland Water: Great
Skua in the North Arm till 12:20 when it flew
off west; adult & juv Arctic Terns, Lagoon
3 + 4.
Watermead CP South: adult & 2
1st-winter Little Gulls briefly at 09:40 before
flying off south-west, also adult Arctic Tern
still.

Shearwater was found dead this morning. It was
unfortunately not possible to find a boat yesterday evening
before it got dark.
Rutland Water: Spoonbill
flew in and landed on Lagoon 1 early afternoon, also Sandwich
Tern flew from South Arm 3 to Lagoon 3 at 14:00.

Shearwater in bay north of the island this evening,
in weed about 20 feet from the shore. Contrary to earlier reports,
it appears that the bird is reasonably healthy, but seems to
have its feet trapped, either in weed or fishing line. Also
Turnstone still on the island, 2 Black-tailed
Godwits, 2 Greenshanks, 7 Ruff,
2 Dunlin & 3 Ringed Plovers.

and of interest, the largest numbers of Yellow Wagtails
for many years - 250+ on the reserve plus many other smaller
flocks around the reservoir.
