Paul Hobson – ‘Derbyshire Birds’
Paul lectures on Environmental Science in Sheffield. He started photography
16 years ago. He has travelled abroad for photography, but definitely
prefers getting images in the dank and grey UK. In 2008 he won the ‘Wildlife
Photographer of the Year – Specially Commended – Bird Behaviour’

Michael Leach – ‘The Secret Life of Snowdonia’
Michael is well known to LROS members from his previous visits to us.
He is one of the world’s top wildlife photographers, his work
having been used in books and magazines in over 40 countries. He has
also done a lot of filming for television wildlife programmes, and is
the author of seven books to date.

Tony Bates – ‘The Folklore of Woodland and Hedgerow’
Tony is a Wildlife and Landscape Photographer and lives in Lincolnshire.
He was a competition winner with a shot of the Comet Hale-Bopp. He presents
his images as dissolve projection slide shows with music included.
May

Carl Baggott – ‘In Search of Wild Britain’
Carl
has just finished his three year stint as the Chairman of LROS; prior
to that he was the editor of ‘The Grebe’. His talk will
take us on a tour of some of his favorite locations in Britain, with
images of some truly wonderful wildlife and scenery. There will be something
for everyone from high mountain peaks to the sea shore and many points
in between.
October
1st – Rothley
John Wyatt – ‘ Ruff Passage or Wandering Waders’
John is well known to LROS members having given talks over many years.
He has worked in Africa for more than 10 years and also produced the
‘Teach Yourself Bird Sound ‘ series of cassettes. He has
lead wildlife tours through Africa and Europe. This talk concentrates
on the migration of the Ruff, and the African and European Waders it
meets on its journey from Africa to Europe and back again.
November

Mike Lane – ‘The Pantanal’
Mike has presented quite a few of his talks to LROS over the years.
He tends to spend quite a few months in the areas he is photographing
to get to know the wildlife present. Mike has now gone digital and will
present his latest talk on the Pantanal , the huge wetland area of Brazil.

Chris Andrews – ‘The Return of the Red Kite'
Chris is the Visitor and Promotions Officer for the RSPB at the Top
Lodge Centre in Fineshade Woods in Northamptonshire. He was to present
this talk last February, but it had to be cancelled because of the severe
weather.
